Meet Our Teachers!

  • Hi there! My name is Robyn Skinner and I am passionate about different types of literacy and STEM. As a teacher who has taught multiple contents at two project-based learning schools, I have seen learners grow and thrive in all of these content areas when they learned them in authentic project-based learning environments and when they were learning important 21st-century skills like collaboration, critical thinking, adaptability, leadership, and digital literacy.

In my 9 years as a PBL teacher and an instructional technologist, I created, co-created, managed, and collaborated on many cross-content projects that integrated English, science, social studies, and engineering. These projects involved world literature, culture, coding, app creation, CAD, digital electronics, renewable energy research and development, Minecraft, etc. I also organized and co-wrote a course curriculum for my district over digital literacy.

When COVID started and the schools had to go virtual, I was working in the instructional technology department in my district and helped teachers in one of the largest school districts in the nation transition to virtual learning. I am very comfortable with instructional technology, learning management systems, online content creation, and other online platforms. I hold two graduate certificates: 1. Multimedia and 2. Online Teaching and Learning.

Building connections with students online is somewhat new for many of us, but it is so much fun and rewarding too! Classroom management also looks different in the digital sphere, but norms, structure, building relations and incorporating plenty of social-emotional check-ins/ice-breakers are so important! I strongly believe in a student-led classroom that involves a lot of student voice and choice in order to have more student buy-in to the content being delivered and learned.

My certifications include English Language Arts and Reading (8-12), English as a Second Language (6-12), Technology Education (6-12), Project Lead the Way certification for Introduction to Engineering Design. I have a B.A. in English with a second major in Child and Family Studies.

I love learning new instructional and digital technologies like Google Tools, video editing tools, planning tools like GoodNotes, KeyNote on iPad, TinkerCAD, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, CAD, and Minecraft for Education. I also love getting organized, setting goals, and learning new ways to teach global graduate skills.

In my class, students will leave with new knowledge, experiences, and will grow in their 21st century skills by collaborating, taking risks, and using critical thinking skills. I hope to see your student there!

I look forward to having you in my class!

  • Hello and Welcome! I am an author, teacher, speaker and life coach who teaches people of all ages communication skills. My expertise is in emotional development and expression. As children we are not taught about emotions, empathy nor how to listen. We grow up without intelligence emotionally often reaching out to professional psychologists with life problems to solve when we are adults. My courses teach the normalcy of emotions with educating students what they are, how we experience them and how to communicate. This core process translates to increased imagination and creativity. We are all artists and writers and have creativity inside of us. This does not threaten the left brain rationalism our educational systems are structured around, it actually compliments it. There is a cutting edge advantage to social skills and creativity entering into the 21st century as our jobs will be increasingly automated with artificial intelligence. I bring my experience with children and teens where I did artwork, and played all kinds of games with them as we talked about emotions, problems and solutions. With the teens, I would shoot hoops outside with basketball, write and play card games. With the younger children, I would play board games and draw. What mattered was helping them express themselves. Parents would learn to trust my process, as when the kid would identify the parent as the 'monster' in the drawing, I would understand their communication. Sometimes as adults we can be scary to kids with our emotions and they do not understand the normalcy of anger and fear. I help kids of all ages understand we all experience anger, fear, sadness, joy, confusion, disgust and more as part of life. There is nothing wrong with us. By tapping into our inward thoughts and emotions, I help students express themselves more freely with increased confidence and self esteem. This model of PERMA from Positive Psychology has been practiced with school children in Australia with Dr. Martin Seligman, and they saw their overall achievement scores improve just because they focused on well-being and emotional expression. It is nice to meet you!

  • Welcome! I’m Stacia - I have loved illuminating light on the topic of essential life skills since 2020. My online classroom has expanded to diverse learners from over 30 countries.

I was born in Pennsylvania, studied Speech Pathology and American Sign Language for some time in North Carolina, and completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Event Management from the University of Central Florida where I also worked for a mouse... You may have guessed it- I was a Walt Disney World Cast Member!

I was heavily immersed in the hospitality industry, and there, is where I developed my passion for vital interpersonal skills. A change in career and personal growth opportunities has brought my global classroom and family to the American West, Las Vegas, Nevada.

My other passions include summiting mountain peaks, exploring national parks, entrepreneurship, family, running, swimming, and world travel. I’ve visited 16 countries and there are so many more I want to experience.

Alongside working for Disney, my distinctive professional experiences include leading event operations; communicating to various audiences through digital content; teaching and tutoring learners from pre-K to graduate school, and creating instructional curricula. I even had the extraordinary opportunity to demonstrate my leadership skills at 40,000 feet in the sky as an International Flight Attendant. My favorite part of every career path is the team aspect and I love to teach about the importance of creativity and collaboration with learners.

Learners will gain awareness of their essential social and life skills and how they can apply strategies and tools in their everyday interactions and collaborative efforts with their family, peers, subordinates, colleagues, and future family members of their own.

    Additional Expertise
I hold certifications in TESL, TESOL, and TEFL; and teach English as a second language to students abroad. I am a certified, 1-on-1 tutor in the following subject areas: Audition Prep; College Application and Essay Assistance; Elementary, Middle, and High School English; Resume Writing; and Study, Test Prep, and Organization Skills.

    Teaching Philosophy
Engagement and encouragement are the top principles I utilize in my teaching approach. I promote active listening, participation, and enthusiasm, and advocate for learners’ critical thinking. Learners and parents are encouraged to review the resources and follow-up materials to supplement their learning experience prior to and after class.

  • Are you looking for a passionate teacher who loves to have fun and believes that everyone can learn? Then look no further. I started to have fun teaching when I was an elementary student myself by playing school with my neighbors and sibling in the basement. That has transcended over twenty years later and into decades of having fun in my career both in-person and online as an educator. It's important that students believe that they can learn and have fun while learning. Having a teacher who provides step-by step directions to help students understand the material being taught is key to helping students become successful in their own learning. As students gain confidence in learning, learning can become more fun for them. Let's have fun in class together. I look forward to meeting your child and helping them become a successful life-long learner.

  • Hi! My name is Mrs. Rachel, and I can not wait to meet you and your family! I teach a variety of life skills, crafting, social skills, psychology, science, and anatomy classes. I believe that children learn best in an interactive group setting, and I use a variety of creative techniques to ensure each class allows your learner to engage with the class material in a hands on manner.

I am a pediatric occupational therapist working with children with developmental or acquired disabilities ages 4 months to 21 years in north Texas. I have a master's degree in occupational therapy from Texas Woman's University and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Texas A&M University (Gig 'Em!). As an occupational therapist, I provide skilled treatment to help a child or teen progress his or her life skills to meet individualized goals. Treatment sessions could be anything from working on using both hands and scissor skills by making a pumpkin craft, to following directions by cooking macaroni and cheese, to developing social and counting skills by playing a board game. I specialize in making life skills fun, and a few of my patients call me “the fun doctor” (our clinic looks like a doctor’s office) because they enjoy therapy so much.

I am passionate about making learning fun, and I have taught a variety of classes: handwriting, aquatic science, head start, crafting, and life skills to name a few. I am here to best serve your student's learning needs, so my lessons will include hands on activities in addition to visual and auditory information. If your learner has special learning needs, please contact me in advance and I will be happy to accommodate! If you have any questions regarding my classes, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to seeing you in class!
