Meet Our Teachers!

  • I'm Stephanie Liesel Sirkhot, though I prefer the name Steph. Currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa, English is my native language. I pursued a Bachelor of Education at the University of Pretoria, followed by a Bachelor of Science with Honours at the University of Witwatersrand. Remarkably, I undertook my latter degree part-time while juggling work commitments.

Complementing my academic journey, I obtained my TEFL certificate through online studies at The TEFL Academy, a distinguished institution based in the United Kingdom. My quest for knowledge continues as I am presently engrossed in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computing.

In the realm of education, my versatility shines. With a teaching spectrum spanning from Grade 4 to Grade 12, my focus predominantly gravitated towards Mathematics. However, I also extended my teaching prowess to English Home Language for Grade 4 to Grade 7 students. Online, I've found joy in teaching English as a second language to both adults and children.

Diverse experiences have woven my professional fabric. I once thrived as a junior programmer in a software development company, a role that resonated deeply with me. A desire to harmonize my dual passions led me to the intersection of education and coding, where I now impart knowledge on computer science and programming.

In my English language instruction, I employ Total Physical Response (TPR) to engage learners effectively. This technique is coupled with my tendency to overemphasize words and sentences for clarity. When working with children, I introduce an endearing ensemble of cuddly toys, a collection accumulated since my own childhood. Notably, this assemblage features cherished characters like Honey the bear, Molly the cat, and Samuel the dog, with the potential to incorporate more props in the future.

My fondness for animals is undeniable. Cats and horses, in particular, occupy a special place in my heart. My affinity for these creatures translates into my involvement with animal shelters, where I dedicate my time to caring for cats. Additionally, I indulge in horse-riding when opportunities arise. Outside the educational sphere, I find delight in expressing myself through dance, particularly Ballroom and Latin styles. Though my dance journey once led me through bronze examinations and onto silver levels, my current focus is on dancing for pure enjoyment.

Software development and programming intrigue me greatly, fuelling my ongoing pursuit of knowledge in this domain.

  • I hold a Bachelor's degree in Education and have taught for many years. I have loved reading since I read my first chapter book at age seven, so I enjoy teaching book studies. I have always had a passion for science. I love rocks and minerals, plants and herbs, and in general most sciences. I believe children, like myself as interested in the mysterious and the strange. Learning is an adventure. My mission is to make learning fun.

Some of my online courses include book studies for kids from 8 to 15 years; STEM and STEAM classes; preschool classes including phonics, pre-math, pre-language, and story times. I have a very popular series of classes on rocks, minerals, and crystals for ages 8-13. I also teach geography classes. My years as an elementary and as a preschool teacher have prepared me to teach these subjects effectively to a wide range of ages. I taught my first online class in 2004!

I enjoy teaching classes that highlight my own hobbies and interests such as gluten-free cooking, and the mysterious and strange things in life. I can provide a listing of classes I have developed upon request.
I am a passionate teacher with more than forty years of experience teaching preschoolers to adults. I have taught in home-school, preschools, private preschools, and public preschools. I have trained teachers as an adjunct instructor at a community college, and have taught grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 in public and private schools. I've spent a large part of my career simultaneously holding workshops, and training and mentoring childcare professionals while teaching kids full time. More than 100 childcare professionals have earned a CDA credential under my tutelage. Many more have completed their associates degree in Early Childhood Education.

While my professional experience is extensive, the heart of my passion is kids. I love playing with children to help them learn. Every child has his or her own learning style and as a teacher, I strive to find how best to help children create their own learning.

  • Hello! My name is Adam and I am a master student studying in University of St. Gallen. My lessons focus on tailoring to specific student needs by considering their interests, ability and knowledge. I generally offer lessons for debating and public speaking which focuses on back and forth discussions on current affairs as well argument construction to ensure students can deliver and articulate their ideas concisely. I believe in today’s day and age, yes academics does play a huge role in enhancing your employability, but with everyone graduating from university degrees and achieving similar grades, how can you differentiate yourself from the rest of the pack? Being able to present yourself clearly and articulate your thoughts is what I believe to be the most effective way to stand out; from job interviews, to assessment centres, to presenting to your boss, etc; being able to speak with conviction will surely take you the extra mile in your career!

  • I am a Singaporean and have been in the Education Industry for more than 20 years, providing academic and enrichment programmes to schools and institutions for more than 10,000 students.

Besides English, I am able to speak Mandarin and other Chinese dialects like Hokkien and Cantonese.

The program EQ PAWER WRITING works on 2 areas; English Writing skills (mechanics of writing, sentence construction, vocabulary, grammar etc) and EQ (through inspiring stories to develop attitudinal skills and lifeskills),.. This is similar to the adults' motivational program like Anthony Robbin / BrianTracy etc (except that my program is a watered down version suited for children).

Writing helps develop your cognitive growth, organizational abilities, and the power to influence others through persuasion. In short, writing powers the brain. The ability to write is so important as a skills-set for children but yet it is often a skill-set that is so lacking in many of our Asian children. Opportunities to practice English writing in schools are lacking and so is the lack of writing skills for children, particularly in Asia.

I make writing lessons very interesting as I intersperse lessons with games and fun activities (lots of inspirational story-telling and drama).

EQ / Character Building is developed as children are inspired with the motivational and interesting stories, used as a context to discuss and write.

The program adopts Scientifically Researched Evidence-based Ways to teach Character Education. It is also noteworthy to mention that the achievement motivation and study skills training programme was proven effective in an action research done as a theses submission for the MA (Educational Management) programme at NIE / NTU.

Many of the inspirational stories and topics shared in the program inculcate values, habits, competencies and skills in children, particularly social emotional learning (SEL). These are important skills needed to recognize and manage emotions, develop care and concern for others, make responsible decision, establish positive relationships and handle challenging situations.

  • Creating a positive learning environment where kids can have fun and develop the skills needed to succeed in the real world. After teaching for 20 years around the world, I have realized what I love to do, teach creativity to the age group that is still full of ideas, loves to have fun and has a lifetime of practice ahead of them.

Every class has set goals where students must PRODUCE language to show how well they have understood and can apply our ideas.

I don´t students´ hands and drag them through my lesson but rather expose them to knowledge, opportunities and let them push themselves. My hand is never far when they need a little support, but individuals but learn independently on their own terms, in their own ways, and producing language that matters to THEM.
