*This class is for ages 13+ as well as any younger students who are mature and very advanced at the game.
Students will join me in a private game of Among Us. I will always play along with the group and ensure the discussion remains respectful to everyone in the class. Students will need to have either the free or paid version of Among Us (from Google Play or Apple store) downloaded on one of their devices before class starts. As we will be both playing Among Us and holding discussions throughout the game in Zoom, I recommend that students use separate devices for each. I will provide the code for our private game in Zoom at the start of class. We will play as many rounds as possible in the class time.
The game works best with a minimum of 5 players so, if there are not at least 4 students signed up an hour before class, then I would be happy to either send you a refund or transfer your child to another class.
First time players are welcome! And feel free to have your student join me as many times as they like!
How the game works:
Among Us is an online social deduction game that takes place in a space-themed setting in which players are either Crewmates or Impostors. The goal of the Crewmates is to identify the Impostors, eliminate them, and complete tasks around the map; the Impostors' goal is to sabotage and eliminate the Crewmates before they complete all of their tasks. Crewmates use their deductive skills to vote off the Impostors while the Imposters may try to take over the discussion in order to avoid being discovered. In either case, accurate and concise communication is critical to each player getting the outcome they desire.
This game includes mild blood and cartoonish violence as Imposters kill Crewmates. We will be playing a private game but students will be able to access public games through the app so you may want to monitor the usage of the app outside of class for younger students.
