In this Grade 4 Math class, Through communication, representation, reasoning and proof, problem solving, and making connections within and beyond the field of mathematics, students will demonstrate understanding of numbers, ways of representing numbers, and relationships among numbers and number systems, demonstrate meanings of operations and how they relate to one another, and compute fluently and make reasonable estimates.The Math Concepts are based on Standard Curriculum /Common Core. Each week, the learner will gain proficiency in new math concepts. Each week is a stand-alone class and is not a pre-requisite to taking the other class. The learner can join in any week and quickly be able to participate and get up to speed
Rise and Shine Grade 4 Math - Full Curriculum
Description
In this Grade 4 Math class, learners will build mastery in computations with the 4 basic operations, delve deeper into the use of fractions and decimals and introduce the concept of factors.

Week 1 Place value / Rounding off numbers- build conceptual understanding by decomposing numbers into their constituent parts.

Week 2 Simple two-digit addition with no regrouping through the addition of multiple 6 digit addends in columns

Week 3 Multiplication in columns that ranges in difficulty from 2 x 1 digits to 3 x 3 digits.

Week 4 long division with one-digit divisors and up to 4 digit dividends.

Week 5 Prime factors trees

Week 6 Order of Operations - practice solving equations involving the 4 operations with up to 6 terms and parenthesis.

Week 7 Addition and subtraction of fractions and mixed numbers, comparing fractions (proper and improper), equivalent fractions, and converting mixed numbers to and from improper fractions.

Week 8 Measurement review of the customary and metric units for measuring length, weight, capacity, and temperature and provide practice converting measurements between different units of the same system

Week 9 Classifying angles, triangles and quadrilaterals, areas and perimeters, and coordinate grids

Week 10 Reading and writing Roman numerals up to 1,000.

Teacher
I am a CA Licensed teacher and have been a teacher in brick and mortar for more than 3 decades. I have taught online for more than 5 years- ESL, MATH and SCIENCE. I have earned my Master’s Degree in Business Administration major in Finance, earned my Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education major in English, earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, AB Communication Management and Biology. I have taught Math/ Science/ ESL to learners in the USA, Canada, Australia, UK and Asia. I also taught ESL to both young learners and adults in China, Korea and Japan. I also know American Sign Language and have also taught beginners piano lessons as well. Math and Science are my passion.I follow the CA standard Curriculum/ Core Concept/ Kumon for Math and the Next Generation Science Standards for Science. I currently offer a full curriculum, semestral classes, multi-day and ongoing classes in Math for Kindergarten to Algebra and Science for First Grade to Third Grade. I also offer private one on one Math tutorials. I believe that "Effective teaching is important because teaching is based on helping children progress from one level to another in a more sociable interactive environment and to get the approach right to get students to be independent learners."
