Students will study with the teacher to improve and advance their skills in the subject areas indicated by the parents. Parents can request tutoring in any of these subject areas:
Beginning reading- letter recognition, vowels sounds, phonics, sounding out words, sight words, basic sentences, reading short stories, comprehension, spelling, book studies.
Beginning math- matching, grouping, sequencing, finding details, ordering, shapes, number recognition, quantification, beginning addition and subtraction, place value, word problems.
Steam- Integrated, hands-on activities and experiences with science, technology, engineering, art and math activities
The teacher will guide the student using a scaffolding approach. Assessment of the student's current level of understanding and skills will inform each lesson and known skills will be used to build up to more advanced skills in an ongoing method.
