Meet Course teacher

Hi! I'm Soon Wei, and I'd like to offer online tutoring for Olympiad maths, chess, Physics and Chemistry.

I have been offering private tutoring for a few months to date. My student ranges from 7-year-olds to university undergraduates, with the majority being secondary school students. I am also fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, and I am familiar with using multiple languages to the advantage in class deliveries. I am also adept in teaching for different syllabi, including the IGCSE, IB, AP, A-Levels, VCE syllabus just to name a few. In my teaching, I strive to use my creativity in classes by showing students the possible different approaches to a single problem or technique, so that the student may understand it in a unique way they are comfortable with. This has proven successful to me when dealing with students with diverse backgrounds and learning capabilities.

As for my background, I have an excellent academic record, including a first-class honours CGPA at The University of Hong Kong under the Quantitative Finance major, as well as a first-class at The University of Melbourne under Actuarial Science, both being a grateful recipient of a great scholarship. I have also completed my pre-university studies with a 4A* grade under the Edexcel A-Levels for the subjects Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry.

As for my extra-curricular certificates, I have been training my Olympiad mathematics and chess skills for over a decade and was privileged to win several international awards as a country representative, such as the Hong Kong International Chess Open, Commonwealth Chess Championship, Australian Mathematical Competition and more. I also have basic competence in computer programming, with one of my highlights being the National Finalist for the International Blockchain Olympiad.
